The Greater Pittsburgh Sports Complex and South Hills Country Club recently hosted and sponsored the Inaugural Children’s Hospital Pickleball Classic alongside the Carrie Martin Fund.
On the weekend of May 17, started the first annual competitive event of Pickleball with a focus of raising funds for a good cause! The tournament saw a total of 53 teams and 106 participants come together to support the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
The Pickleball Classic featured matches across various skill levels from 3.0 to 4.0+. The atmosphere was filled with exciting, competitive matches on our courts Friday and Saturday, concluding with the championship matches and bash at South Hill Country Club. Teams battled it out in a pool play format, with the leaders of each group advancing to playoff play on Saturday.
Raise Funds for Children’s Hospital
The primary goal of this pickleball tournament was to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with the Carrie Martin Fund. Through a combination of entry fees, donations, raffles, and sponsorships, we have raised an estimated total between $10,000 – $15,000, all of which will go towards supporting critical services and programs at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
